Thank you, Daytrippers

Despite the dark cloud of the pandemic, we’re so happy to share some joy with you that has certainly brightened our year thus far. Our friends of the Daytrippers Charity organization recently donated $50,000 dollars to The Children’s Breakfast Clubs and we are absolutely over the moon. The Daytrippers Charity organization is focused on bringing Canadian children experiences that build confidence, curiosity and bright futures. They are able to bring these experiences by funding school trips for K-8 that...

Cursive writing: Is the art of this craft lost forever?

Some might argue that since the dawn of the computer, the need to formally write has become a thing of the past. Letters to family or friends are now emails and text messages. Absent notes from parents explaining why their child wasn’t at school are now simple phone calls. When I was going to school, cursive writing was part of the curriculum. On the first day of a brand new school year, I remember being issued a staple saddle stitched pink...

March is Nutrition Month! For over 30 years, Nutrition Month has been raising public awareness across Canada about the importance of healthy eating. At The Children’s Breakfast Clubs, we ensure our students receive a hot, nutritious breakfast meal every morning so that they have the necessary nutrients and energy required to do well in...

TCBC Winter Coat Drive 2019 – 2020

Every year, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs host a Winter Coat Drive in support of children and families who do not have adequate winter clothing. We believe it is crucial that children have access to warm winter clothing so that they can enjoy the outdoors during frigid weather and remain healthy and safe. Children who are not dressed appropriately for the winter season are often more susceptible to illness which can result in them missing school. It is our goal to ensure that no child in Ontario is...

Saving the Monarch Butterflies

A few years ago when we initially heard that the population of Monarch Butterflies had decreased in a significant way, we knew we wanted to make a difference in any way we could. Members of our organization started spreading the word by sending Milkweed seeds to several of our corporate and personal supporters as a means of spreading awareness while encouraging them to take action. We took the initiative to get our children involved by hosting a day at Casa Loma...
