The Children’s Breakfast Clubs will be having their Annual Environmental Project held on June 1st at Casa Loma in midtown Toronto. The majestic castle will help us host 30 children from our Breakfast Clubs that will be learning about what they can do to help the environment and how we can help Save The Bees! We will be bringing awareness on the importance of the Honey Bee and will shine light on how much they are needed in our lives.

Our goal is to get others involved in supporting the Bees, by educating them on the many benefits that they provide as well as how crucial their pollination is. We would like the children to know that Bees aren’t just useful for honey, jelly or pollen, but that without bees we would have no access to many foods that we consume each and every day. Foods such as beans, tomatoes, onions, avocado and many others, are all dependent on bees for pollination, so it’s important that we respect this small, but powerful creature and do what we can to keep them buzzing for many years to come.

Inside the beautiful gardens at Casa Loma, the children will be planting an array of wild flowers that are known to attract and nourish the Honey Bees. Flowers such as Denze Blazing Star,, Golden Tickseed and Sneezeweed, are all great choices for the Honey Bees in anyone’s garden. We’re hoping that the children will take away a better understanding about the Bees and treat them with as much respect as they deserve.
