Our Breakfast Club at Taylor Creek Public School was established in 2015 to help meet the needs of children and families in the Scarborough South West community. In 2019 the club was renamed after Ann Buller, a long-time supporter of The Children’s Breakfast Clubs. Ann was Centennial College’s longest-serving President, inspiring and leading students throughout her career. She has been actively involved with The Children’s Breakfast Clubs and arranged for Centennial College students to volunteer and mentor the children at our Breakfast Club.
Our Breakfast Program runs from 8:00 am – 8:30 am, Monday to Friday. Approximately 40 students attend each morning and are served a hot, nutrition breakfast meal. Last year, over 8,376 meals were served! The program would not be successful without the hard work and contributions of our amazing team members including the Principal, Vice Principal, staff, volunteers and of course our Club Leader, Maryam Muhammad.
In addition to the daily Breakfast Program, we also offer an After School Literacy Program once a week at Taylor Creek Public School. Volunteers from Toronto Fire Services, Ismaili Civic and other members of the community work with the students to improve their math and reading skills. They also take part in other fun and creative activities together including arts and crafts and music lessons!
Thanks to the combined efforts of our devoted volunteers, staff, supporters and friends, we are able to build a stronger community together and better serve our children and families in the Scarborough South West area.
