Our additional programs outside of the breakfast clubs give our children exposure to opportunities that they normally wouldn’t have. In this case, it was visiting our nation’s capital: Ottawa!

On February 7th, 2024, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs were fortunate enough to accompany 200 children on an exciting and educational visit to Ottawa. The 38th Speaker of The House of Commons – The Honourable Greg Fergus, graciously hosted us and we also had an exciting visit with The Prime Minister of Canada – The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau.

We were able to honour Zanana Akande for Black History Month for all of her accomplishments; and after all the excitement and learning at the Parliament Building, we took a tour of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stables and met with Canada’s most beautiful and majestic horses.

VIA Rail Canada arranged for our train ride to and from Ottawa. The train ride included a full breakfast on the way to Ottawa and a delicious dinner on the return ride to Toronto. There were all kinds of games for our children and lots of time to enjoy the scenery and time with friends. ATU 113 arranged for our local transportation in Toronto.

Overall it was such a successful visit. Our children still cannot stop talking about their favourite moments and all the wonderful memories that they created.

Take a look at the photos that showcase some of the highlights and special moments from this year’s Children’s Breakfast Clubs visit to Ottawa which commemorated Black History Month 2024!

A special thank you to all of our friends and supporters for helping us bring this trip to life.
