I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. – Edward Everett Hale

For the month of June, The Children’s Breakfast Club will be promoting the many ways that children can “Go Green” in not just their personal lives, but also in their homes and communities. Making green decisions doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact, it is often the smallest actions that can make the biggest differences. Although we may not be able to do everything, all of us can do something to help make the world a more sustainable place to live for not just ourselves, but for generations to come.

Throughout the month of June, the children’s breakfast club will be focusing on four specific areas as it relates to going green. To kick-off the month, we will be exploring what it means to Grow Green. we will have activities and information related to growing certain vegetables and herbs as well as teaching children about how to grow certain plants from the seeds of vegetables that they may already have at home.

Next, we will look at what it means to “Bee” Green. Nope, that’s not a typo. We’re going to explore the significant impact that bees have on the environment, along with the multiple types of honey that they create (Hint: There’s more than one type). We will also explore the reasons as to why bees make honey, and its usage for not just bees, but for ourselves as well!

This month, we will also be looking at the many ways that we can begin to Think Green. Some of the smallest actions can have the biggest impact as it relates to working towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world. An example of a simple, yet powerful, step is the use of recycling and composting, and throughout the month, we will be providing you with resources on how to do this.

Lastly, we’ll look at the ways that we can begin to See Green. While we can always take action towards being green, it’s okay to pause and to reflect on all the green that is already around you. Whether it’s through bird watching, looking at the butterflies, or going for a walk on a trail, there is so much nature around you to explore and embrace.

We hope that come the end of the month, you will have learned to embrace the beautiful and wonderful nature that is all around you, and feel inspired to continue to take action to protect the world in which we all live in.
