We are absolutely thrilled to share that our Backpack Giveaway event on August 27th was a resounding success! Held at Yorkgate Mall, we distributed a record-breaking 1,505 backpacks, making it the largest event of its kind to date. Your support and generosity were crucial in equipping these backpacks with the essential supplies our students need to start the school year right. This year’s event is especially timely for families facing financial hardships and students dealing with significant mental health challenges. Many are struggling with anxiety and depression due to climate change, job uncertainty, and the high cost of living. By providing these backpacks and resources, we aim to ease some of these burdens and ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed in the new school year.

The joy and excitement were palpable as children and families arrived. Seeing the eager faces of the kids as they selected their backpacks, each filled with everything from notebooks and pens to colorful pencils and erasers, was truly heartwarming. For many, receiving a new backpack symbolizes new beginnings, brimming with the promise of learning and growth.

To everyone who contributed, volunteered, and supported us leading up to and during the event—thank you! Your efforts helped us exceed our goal and bring smiles to countless faces. We are deeply grateful for the community’s unwavering support and for making this event a shining example of what we can achieve together.  We’re excited to see so many kids ready and enthusiastic about heading back to school, equipped with everything they need to succeed. Your support has not only filled backpacks but also hearts with hope and anticipation for the year ahead. Each backpack handed out represents not just school supplies but a boost in confidence and a reminder that they are supported by a caring community.
