4,100 Backpacks, Hundreds of Volunteers, One Incredible Community
On Monday, August 31, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs (TCBC) brought together hundreds of volunteers including police officers, first responders, corporate teams and community supporters for an incredible morning of teamwork and generosity at our 2026 Backpack Giveaway.
Together, we packed and distributed 4,100 backpacks for children across the Greater Toronto Area – more than double the number we distributed last year!
All 4,100 backpacks have already been allocated to children connected to our Breakfast Programs and children identified by police officers in their communities. Each backpack is filled with essential school supplies and hygiene items to help children start the school year feeling prepared, confident and supported.
What made the morning especially meaningful was seeing people from all walks of life come together for one common purpose: helping local children start the school year on the right foot. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of community and what we can accomplish when we work together.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the CNE and Exhibition Place for hosting us and helping make this event possible.
A special thank you to Tim Hortons for keeping our volunteers fueled and energized with refreshments throughout the morning, and to the Toronto Police Service for being such wonderful partners – helping us pack and deliver thousands of backpacks to children across the city.

Every backpack represents more than school supplies. It represents a community saying to a child: we see you, we believe in you, and we’re cheering you on.
